401-3204-14L | Geometric Group Theory | 4 KP | 2V | A. Sisto |
Kurzbeschreibung | This course is an introduction and an invitation to Geometric Group Theory, which can be described as the study of groups using actions on metric spaces. |
Lernziel | The goal is to describe basic properties of Cayley graphs, Gromov-hyperbolic spaces, CAT(0) cube complexes and other objects of interest in Geometric Group Theory. Deeper applications, for example to low dimensional topology, will also be presented, and an outline of proof will be included when possible. The choice of topics to discuss, especially in the second part of the course, can vary depending on the interests of the audience. |
Skript | Lecture notes will be provided. |
Voraussetzungen / Besonderes | Very little beyond the definitions of group, group action, metric space. |
